About Ken

Ken Findlay is a college lecturer with over 22   years of experience in adventure education. His passion is to promote the benefits of outdoor exploration and to make it available to all. As an experienced mountaineer he has climbed over 200 mountains worldwide and embarked upon 13 expeditions. He is a member of The Britishken camping on mountain Mountaineering Council (BMC), The Alpine Club (AC), The Fell and Rock Climbing Club (FRCC) and The Leeds Mountaineering Club (LMC). He is also a keen runner and has clocked up over 1,000 miles in marathons, which includes The Karrimor International Mountain Marathon. Kentrek is about getting people outdoors, exploring the land around them and pushing their personal boundaries. One of the biggest challenges we see today is that families spend too much time indoors. Kentrek's philosophy is about accessing the outdoors and connecting with nature.

KenTrek supports the Mountain Rescue teams in England and Wales and a proportion of our income will be donated to this charity.     more about Ken

MORE ABOUT KEN

In teaching in Further and Higher education in Colleges in both Leeds and Bradford, I have been involved in many residentials both here and abroad. Destinations include Brussels in Belgium and Orebro in Sweden to activity centres in the Lake District and Scotland. All these included working with students aged 16 – 19 in the outdoor environment on the Btec National Diploma in Outdoor Pursuits.

Teaching in both the Outdoor Education and Public Service courses has led me to be involved in most of the Colleges outdoor pursuits sessions and become part of the health and safety team and also the Outdoor Pursuits co-ordinator for Public Services.

Further to this I am also involved in my local climbing club (Leeds Mountaineering club) having served on the committee in most of the positions over the past thirty years, and at this moment in time I am involved in compiling a club journal based on our first 50 years .
